Citric acid + sodium hydroxide method

This is also the earliest research and development production process. The citric acid is dissolved in water and added to the sodium hydroxide solution to cause a neutralization reaction and generate a large amount of heat. The finished product is obtained by filtering, concentrating, crystallization, and drying. The process of this method is simple and the product purity is good; the disadvantage is that the finished product is high. Now it is only used to prepare laboratory supplies. 

Citric acid + soda ash method

The improved process of neutralization method, as a raw material, soda ash is easy to purchase and save, and has the advantages of low production cost; it is a production method commonly adopted by various industrial enterprises. 

Citric acid + baking soda method

This method is an improved preparation method aiming at the unsuitability of soda ash method products for the pharmaceutical industry. This method uses high-quality sodium citrate, which is dissolved in water according to the calculated amount and neutralized with citric acid, and processed through processes such as concentration and crystallization to prepare pharmaceutical grade sodium citrate. It is characterized by mild reaction conditions, good product quality, and good process operability. It is mainly used in some pharmaceutical factories. 

Calcium citrate + soda ash method

In this method, sodium citrate is obtained by mixing calcium citrate and soda ash to generate a metathesis reaction, and filter out insoluble matter. The product purity is poor and the operation process is long. In previous years, it was reported that by adjusting the pH value of the mixing conditions, the process flow was simplified, the production cost was reduced, and a better quality product was obtained.
