Introduction to 2,4-dichlorophenol

2,4-dichlorophenol is a white solid. There is phenol odor. Flammable. Soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, benzene and carbon tetrachloride, slightly soluble in water. The boiling point is 210 ℃. The melting point is 42~43 ℃. Flash point 113 ℃. Relative density 1.383.

In fact, it is obtained by chlorinating phenol with chlorine under the catalysis of iron. It is mainly used as an intermediate for the synthesis of herbicide, 2,4-D, ibifos and medical thiodichlorophenol.

It is volatile and corrosive. It can burn skin and irritate eyes and skin. Severe poisoning can cause anemia and various neurological symptoms. Those who are allergic to skin can cause dermatitis and are difficult to cure. The workshop shall be well ventilated and the equipment shall be sealed. Wear masks, glasses and rubber gloves during operation. In case of accidental splashing on the skin, immediately wipe it with alcohol or wash it with dilute alkaline water. If it has been ingested, immediately wash the stomach with warm water and magnesium oxide (30g/L). Splash on clothes, immediately change clothes and take a bath to prevent penetration into skin

Packed in iron drums. This product is flammable and should be stored away from fire sources in a cool, dry and ventilated place. In case of 2,4-chlorophenol fire, use water, yellow sand and foam carbon dioxide to extinguish the fire.
