Introduction to Phthalic Anhydride

TIME:22-12-02    NUM:3

Phthalic anhydride is an organic compound with the chemical formula C8H4O3. It is a cyclic anhydride formed by intramolecular dehydration of phthalic acid. It is a white crystalline powder, insoluble in cold water, slightly soluble in hot water and ether, soluble in Ethanol, pyridine, benzene, carbon disulfide, etc. are important organic chemical raw materials and important intermediates for the preparation of phthalate plasticizers, coatings, saccharin, dyes and organic compounds.

Phthalic anhydride can undergo hydrolysis, alcoholysis and ammonolysis reactions, and react with aromatic hydrocarbons to synthesize anthraquinone derivatives. Phthalic anhydride can be used instead of phthalic acid, and mainly reacts with monohydric alcohols to form esters, such as dibutyl phthalate and dioctyl phthalate.

Phthalic anhydride is an important organic chemical raw material and an important intermediate for the preparation of phthalate plasticizers, coatings, saccharin, dyes and organic compounds.
